All I want for Christmas is a Silent Night

Happy holidays to everyone!
The coming of the end of the year means the end of the semester for me, which means finals and all their attending joy.
On a brighter note, the girls and I are heading out to California this week until the end of the year. That will be a much needed vacation for all of us.
Arianna will get to see her aunts and uncles and grandpa on her mom's side for the first time, so she'll be getting plenty of hugs and kisses the next couple weeks.
So here's hoping for a nice warm holiday season!

Guess Who

My mom left to return to Virginia after spending a week and a dozen rolls of film on her newest grandbaby and first granddaughter. She also brought photos of me as a baby to compare with Arianna's. The general consensus is...

(the one on the right is me)

Two Weeks... and still going strong!

Arianna had her two-week appointment yesterday with her new pediatrician, and she has already grown 2 inches and 14 ounces since her birth measurements, so she's now at 7lbs 15oz and 20in long. Way to go girl! Also, the pediatrician gave Ben and I some tips on how to get Arianna to sleep in her bassinet better at night, and so far the tips seem to be working. Last night was the first time she slept in her own little bed, and she even had a four-hour sleep session from 1 to 5am, which means mom and dad finally got a decent night's sleep too. Wahoo!

My mom, Kay, went back to California yesterday after a two-week stay with us, and my mother-in-law, Rayelle, arrived a couple of days ago from Virginia. She is staying with us for a week. The grandmas just love their new granddaughter, and they both have been a wonderful help to Ben and me.

One Week Later

Arianna will be one week tomorrow. In some ways the time has gone by quickly. She is feeding much better and sleeping more serenely. She has even had the chance to try out her bouncer and her swing. Melina is getting more sleep, which has been very good. Her mom, Kay, has also helped a lot with straightening the house and helping with the baby while I am at work and school.

The Eagle Has Landed

Our baby is here! Arianna Kay was born at 8:44 Wednesday evening. She weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and was 18" long. She is quite a cutie, and is slowly learning
that nighttime is for sleeping.
